In fact, although women still account for the vast majority of cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States, in 2010 men underwent more than 1.1 million cosmetic procedures (both minimally invasive and surgical).

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there was a whopping increase in the number of surgical and minimally-invasive procedures performed on men from the period of 2000 to 2010 (48% and 45% increases, respectively).

That change represents an incredible shift in public opinion.

Men are no longer shy about their looks - and taking surgical action to improve them. And according to our research, it isn't just the high-profile, celebrity guys who are going under the knife.

Oh no, no...

Rank and file men from every walk of life and job-description are increasingly opting for surgical solutions to their cosmetic troubles.

So, that cab-driver who dropped you off to your office this morning, may – in fact – be recovering a recent face-lift surgery.

Hey what about NOT being so superficial and giving into vanity and all that...?

The truth of the matter is that not all vanity is all bad.

If you're a man who has a pretty good sense of himself and isn't suffering from any "body dismorphia" (defined: you think you're ugly no matter what you do), then cosmetic surgery can enhance your self-confidence and happiness with your appearance.

Western society can be pretty superficial, that is true.

However if you draw your own personal line in the sand, and are willing to except some imperfection in your appearance, while striving to enhance those qualities you can realistically make better, then you are a great candidate for male cosmetic surgery.
